NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....
Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez scored 137 of Barça's 180 goals last year The Uruguayan has 26 goals in 26 goals so far this season and is the league's top scorer with 15
FC Barcelona ended an historic 2015 with five trophies in the cabinet: the League, the Champions League, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those triumphs have placed Barça in the spotlight as has their achievement of scoring 180 goals in a calendar year, more than anyone has managed before. That figure has been reached thanks to the contribution of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez who have chipped in with 137, 76% of the total at an average of 2.77 per game in the 65 official matches played in 2015.
Decisive goals
Many of those goals have come at key moments in the season. Messi's strike in the Vicente Calderón against Atlético last season clinched the league title for Luis Enrique's team. The Argentinian scored twice in the Copa del Rey final, one a spectacular effort that will never be forgotten by those who have seen it. In the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla he scored twice again and he also found the net in the FIFA Club World Cup final against River Plate.
Neymar and Luis Suárez have also found the net in finals. The Brazilian scored the final game in the Champions League final win over Juventus in Berlin, a game in which his Uruguayan team mate also scored. Luis Suárez also scored in the final in Tbilisi against Sevilla and in the Club World Cup, his five goals in the latter tournament means he is all time top scorer along with Mexican César Delgado and Leo Messi. In total the trio scored 12 goals in finals in 2015.
Insatiable
After conquering the second treble in the Club's history, the Catalans have continued to be a reference point for other teams around the world this season. So far in the current campaign, Messi has 13 goals, Neymar 16 and Luis Suárez 26, making a total of 55. Barça top the table in the league, are through to the last 16 of the Champions League and are into the next round of the Copa del Rey despite Leo Messi two month absence due to injury.
Luis Suárez's form is particularly noteworthy – the Uruguayan has 26 goals in 25 games this season and is the league's current top scorer on 15, just one ahead of his team mate Neymar. The trident have ended 2015 with record breaking figures and we hope for more of the same for 2016.
